Making Toro
This piece began as a smaller bronze work — an exploration of mass, balance, and strength. Its reduced form allowed the essential structure to emerge clearly, establishing the foundation for what would become Toro.
The original bronze was then 3D scanned, enabling the form to be enlarged while retaining its core geometry. At this stage, the work was not simply scaled up, but carefully reworked. Through extensive sanding and refinement, the planes were sharpened, transitions clarified, and the sense of forward presence strengthened. the head also refined and changed slighlty.
A mould was made, and the sculpture cast in bronze resin. The final patination brings depth and richness to the surface, allowing light to articulate the structure and reveal the rhythm of the planes.
Toro carries the immediacy of the original bronze, translated into a more monumental and resolved expression — a balance between raw energy and controlled form.
